A stray cat emerged from the bushes and approached a kind person, expressing that he was ready to “go home.” Donna, an animal rescuer from Ohio, noticed an orange cat that had started coming to a cat colony for food. Initially timid, the cat, named Ollie, gradually gained trust over time.
“He was scared, and it took him about two months outside before he realized he could be safe with me. After being abandoned for a while, he turned somewhat ‘feral’ to protect himself outdoors,” Donna explained.

Each day, Ollie grew bolder and approached Donna closer during feeding times. His meows started off as silent, but soon became louder as he let his guard down and allowed Donna to pet him. From then on, he became affectionate.
A week ago, as Donna called out to Ollie, he dashed out of the bushes and greeted her with head snuggles, as if signaling that he was ready to go home. Donna easily placed him in a carrier and, after getting him neutered and receiving veterinary care, Ollie settled into his new indoor space away from the outdoor elements.
Ollie quickly adapted to his new surroundings, emerging from his blanket fort and seeking attention from Donna. His appetite improved, and he would pause eating to show his foster mom affection before returning to his food bowl.
“He was grateful, eating, and showing love. He was extremely thankful,” Donna shared.
Indoors, Ollie transformed into a purring machine, eagerly seeking pets and rolling on his back for belly rubs. He showered Donna with affection and became the center of attention, preferring her lap over his cozy beds.
Recognizing Ollie’s desire for a constant companion, Donna hoped to find him the perfect forever home where he would be adored and cherished. A few days later, her friend Joe, who had previously cared for cats at a truck stop, expressed interest in adopting a cat.
Yesterday, Joe contacted Donna once again, ready to expand his family. Upon seeing photos of Ollie, he was instantly smitten.
“He asked to meet him, and our boy couldn’t have been any better,” Donna said.
Ollie turned on the charm, purring and rolling on his back to display his belly. He enjoyed a treat from Joe and quickly won him over.
Excitedly, Ollie went home with his forever dad, joining his big family last night.
“I kissed Ollie and wished him well. I told him to be a good boy for his new family. They love his name and will keep it.”
